The Antique Airplane Club of Greater New York was formed in 1961 by a group of men interested in perpetuating aviation as it was during the “Golden Age of Aviation, the 1930s”.

Originally formed as a chapter of the Antique Airplane Association of Blakesburg, Iowa, the club held its first Fly-In at Zahn’s Airport, Amityville, Long Island, N.Y., in 1963, and it has been held each summer ever since. Over the years, the Fly-In was also held at Brookhaven and Gabreski Airports and is currently being held at the Bayport Aerodrome. In 2013 the club will celebrate its 50th Annual Fly-In.

A not-for-profit corporation dedicated to preserving Antique and Classic aircraft, the organization is also active in many historical, educational, civic, and community events.

Incorporated in 1973…the club has grown considerably and now totals about 70 dues-paying members and is managed by its President and executive board of directors.

The organization’s Constitution and By-Laws allow us to conduct the club as a democratic organization, with each member having his or her vote.

Members need not be pilots or aircraft owners; no distinction is made in our member structure.

All aircraft are Member-owned and operated under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations.
