LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), the private entity operating and redeveloping LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B, today announced the first set of retail and service options for travelers, opening later this year as part of the new state-of-the-art terminal. Emirates re-opened its doors to a newly refurbished lounge at John F. Kennedy International’s Terminal 4 in New York. The Port Authority’s commercial airports set a record with 66.5 million passengers in the first half of 2018, an increase of 4.3 percent over the first six months of 2017. The record number of travelers comes amid the ongoing $8 billion rebuild of LaGuardia Airport – where an entirely new 21st-century airport is being built atop an existing outmoded airport without any reduction of flight operations. United Airlines announced Jake Cefolia has been promoted to senior vice president of worldwide sales. A veteran sales leader, he will be responsible for directing the efforts of a team of 725 sales professionals who manage sales programs, services, relationships and revenue with corporations, travel management companies and distributors around the world. JetBlue announced the latest collaboration between the JetBlue Foundation and Project Scientist to introduce science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and aviation careers to girls from traditionally under-represented communities. Project Scientist’s STEM Expedition Summer Academy is geared towards girls ages four to 12 and includes behind-the-scenes looks at STEM-focused companies and college programs. During these summer camps, girls learn directly from women in STEM fields. Today, Emirates is celebrating 10 years of A380 operations. Since its first flight to New York from Dubai on August 1, 2008, the Emirates A380 has carried more than 105 million passengers worldwide, of which 9.8 million were from our U.S. gateways.
