Dietmar Focke, Chief Operations Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, will leave the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG on October 31, 2024, and become Managing Director at Lufthansa Industry Solutions, the service company for IT consulting and system integration within the Lufthansa Group. The New Terminal One at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport has unveiled a new partnership with Italian airline Neos, the latest carrier to commit to operating from the all-international terminal, which is set to welcome customers in 2026. American Airlines Cargo today announces that John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) have joined its list of US stations certified by IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics, or CEIV Pharma. The certifications underscore the carrier’s commitment to quality in Life Sciences handling as the process evaluates safety, compliance, consistency, and training at each station to achieve certification. From January 1, 2025, Lufthansa Cargo will include the rising costs of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) due to regulatory environmental requirements in the price index of its existing Airfreight Surcharge (ASC). For departures from European Union (EU) countries, a mandatory SAF blending rate of initially two percent will apply from 2025. Countries outside the EU are also planning to introduce or have already introduced mandatory SAF blends. The Indian government, for example, is working on a mandatory quota of one to five percent from 2027. Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has renewed contracts with Air France KLM Martinair Cargo across major airport gateways in North America. The multi-year contract extensions will take WFS’ cargo partnership with Air France KLM Martinair Cargo in the U.S. market to over 20 years. Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, announced the interim Honolulu leadership team that will guide Hawaiian Airlines operations from transaction close through a full combination of operations under a single operating certificate with two brands – Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines. Now that final clearance has been received from regulators, Alaska Airlines can close the transaction and shift focus to obtaining a single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
