Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) began construction of New York State’s largest onsite solar plus storage project: a solar carport canopy at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Once operational, the solar carport project will generate electricity to help power the AirTrain and reduce electricity costs for residents of low-income neighborhoods in Queens. LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the manager and developer of LaGuardia’s Terminal B, this week welcomed the newest airline to operate from Terminal B – Frontier Airlines. LGP celebrated the carrier’s first day of operations with a water cannon salute and branded sweet treats for the Frontier Airlines team. Airport guests also enjoyed delicious free samples from Terminal B restaurant favorites, including Shake Shack, La Chula, and Il Viaggio.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers are field testing new hand-held language translation-interpretation devices in an effort to support a more positive security checkpoint experience for limited English proficient individuals, international travelers, and individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind, or have low vision.
