The Westchester Aircraft Maintenance Association, also known as WAMA, was founded in 1960. Due to the increased complexity of aircraft at the Westchester County Airport, a group of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, with the backing of several corporations organized the association. WAMA is a professional association that advances the arts and sciences of aircraft maintenance, management, and ground support.

Our membership includes aircraft maintenance technicians, associated flight departments, supporting companies, and others whose work involves supporting the business, commercial, and general aviation industry.

WAMA membership provides opportunities for ongoing learning and professional networking.  WAMA promotes public welfare by educating members and the industry about issues concerning aircraft maintenance and management operations. The Association sponsors training for its members with topics focusing on aircraft maintenance and management.  Aviation is always in a state of change, and the people involved must be constantly advised of industry advancements.

WAMA also recognizes the need for a constant flow of information and knowledge and therefore promotes and co-sponsors several technical programs throughout the year. Aircraft, engine and component manufacturers, related aviation service and support companies, as well as, regulatory organizations, present their new products or services to the general membership. In addition to the above meetings, the Training Committee organizes various technical programs throughout the year. Certain programs count as credit toward FAA IA renewal or task-specific certification.
