LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), the manager and developer of LaGuardia Airport’s new Terminal B, has launched an internship program in partnership with York College. The Terminal Operations internship will afford one exceptional student from the College, which is part of the City University of New York system (CUNY), a firsthand opportunity each semester to learn about terminal management and the greater aviation industry.
This new internship program will immerse York College attendees in their junior or senior years in the practical aspects of careers in aviation, hospitality and/or facilities management. By rotating through various LGP departments, interns will learn the day-to-day operations of an airport terminal facility. They will become familiar working with tenants and business partners, passengers and other terminal administration.
LGP’s new partnership with York College extends its ongoing commitment to career development in the aviation space. In 2022, the organization began working with the Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology to offer internships to students in their junior and senior years, many of whom joined LGP in full-time positions upon graduation. This new program will similarly grant an internship opportunity to one York College student with the objective of expanding to more.
“We’re honored to continue providing educational experiences to future professionals interested in careers across aviation, facilities management, guest services and more,” said Klaudia FitzGerald, Chief Operating Officer of LaGuardia Gateway Partners. “We recognize the valuable opportunities we can offer to York College students seeking firsthand airport management experience to help propel them into the beginning stages of their careers.”
“Given our existing aviation management program that prepares graduates to enter this field, this is an exciting opportunity for York College. We are eagerly anticipating the positive impact on the student currently in the program and those who participate in the future,” said interim York College President Claudia Schrader.
