Dolores collected gowns, cocktail dresses, shoes, pocketbooks, jewelry, dress clothes for the young men, and even a tuxedo! On Friday, May 5, the I-95 Corridor Coalition group visited Newark Liberty International Airport for an “Aviation Day – Freight Academy” tour. The day began with a welcome speech by the General Manager Diane Papaianni followed by a presentation on Freight Movements by Michael Bednarz. Afterwards the team traveled landside to the FEDEX facility for a demonstration of the sorting and ramp sections. The team concluded back in Building 1 where everyone departed for the day. JetBlue, New York’s Hometown Airline, has a long history of supporting those who serve their communities. Today public servants from New York and abroad joined forces for a good cause. JetBlue and the British Metropolitan Police Department partnered for their eighth annual plane pull at New York’s JFK Airport. “Bobbies” from London’s police department competed against teams including JetBlue crewmembers and members from local authorities including the NYPD and FDNY to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today announced it expects a record 234.1 million passengers* — or approximately 2.54 million per day — will travel worldwide on U.S. airlines between June 1 and August 31, a growth of 4 percent over last summer’s 224.8 million travelers. The Vatnajökull plane is part of Icelandair’s transatlantic fleet providing passengers with a guaranteed experience of the Vatnajökull glacier. All Icelandair planes are named after Icelandic volcanoes and this special livery joins the Hekla Aurora, created in 2015 and inspired by the northern lights, as the second hand crafted piece of artwork to adorn one of their fleet. Aviation maintenance and engineering company PEMCO World Air Services (PEMCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, Inc., has launched its Passenger-to-FlexCombi™ and Passenger-to-Freighter conversion programs for the Boeing Next Generation 737-700 aircraft. British Airways today unveiled details of its multi-million pound re-design for New York JFK Terminal 7, the airline’s flagship US airport. The Lilium Jet successfully completed its maiden test flight series in the skies above Bavaria. The 2-seater Eagle prototype executed a range of complex maneuvers, including its signature mid-air transition from hover mode to wing-borne forward flight. Japan Airlines (JAL) and Dassault Falcon Service (DFS), a subsidiary of Dassault Aviation, have agreed to launch a private jet service that will provide airline passengers flying from Tokyo to Paris with seamless interconnection to onward destinations in Europe and Africa.
