American Airlines Cargo has moved more than 1.2 million pounds (lbs.) of flowers ahead of Valentine’s Day. The carrier shares that the flowers mainly moved from Europe and Latin America during Feb. 1-10, destinated for locations across the globe to ensure the seasonal blooms are fresh and ready for the celebrations. Out of Europe, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) remained the top origin for flowers this year, with tulips being the most common type. Skanska, today announced it has been awarded a contract by LGAFUEL LLC to carry out the $113 million construction of LaGuardia Airport’s fuel transmission systems in Queens, New York. JetBlue announced the appointment of Marty St. George to be the company’s next president, effective February 26, 2024. He will report to Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s current president and incoming chief executive officer. The oneworld alliance has named airline industry veteran Nathaniel (Nat) Pieper as its new CEO. Pieper, who is currently senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances at oneworld member Alaska Airlines, will join the alliance in his new role on 01 April 2024. American Airlines welcomes tentative approval from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND).
