Dieter Vranckx, CEO of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), has been appointed to the Lufthansa Group Executive Board responsible for “Global Markets and Commercial Steering Hubs”. He will assume his new duties on 1 July 2024. The New Terminal One at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for an all-electric fleet of ground service equipment, launching the first RFP for operations of the world-class, all-international terminal scheduled to open in 2026 in partnership with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey as part of its $19 billion transformation of the airport. JetBlue Airways announced the promotion of Warren Christie to chief operating officer effective February 12, 2024, concurrent with the previously announced transition of current president and chief operating officer Joanna Geraghty to the role of chief executive officer. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) appointed Lt. Col. Michael Gieraltowski to command its Long Island Senior Squadron (LISS). The change of command from Capt. Randolph Lewis to Lt. Col. New York First Congressional District Representative Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) announced Francis Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach and Elizabeth Field on Fishers Island would each receive federal funding as a part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program, funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Through the AIG program, Gabreski would receive $294,000, and Elizabeth Field would receive $113,000 in federal funding.
