On June 16th, The ARK at JFK, the world’s largest privately-owned animal reception terminal and quarantine, released its single largest equine shipment of 22 horses from 3-day quarantine.

Originating from various regions throughout France (including Bordeaux, Côte d’Azur, and Normandy), all 22 horses arrived early Thursday morning, 6/14 to JFK for the equine quarantine at The ARK. The standardbred racehorses are headed for weekly harness racing events commencing August 5th at Yonkers Raceway. The horses were released from The ARK on Saturday, 6/16 after a successful three-day quarantine in The ARK’s state-of-the-art quarantine facility to start their U.S. training at various locations including Yonkers Raceway, and Mount Hope Training Center, Mark Ford Training Center, Gaitway Farm in NJ and others. All 22 horses from “Adagio de la Tour” to “Very Very Fast” are lucky enough to have “green cards” and will become permanent residents of the USA.

The horses were transported by the shipper, Global Horse Transport, while the Standard Bred Owners Association of New York sponsored the selection, transport, and quarantine.

Approved by the Board of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as John F. Kennedy International airport’s exclusive provider, The ARK is a comprehensive facility that includes animal handling services and kennel accommodations, 3- and 7-day equine import quarantine and equine export center, aviary quarantine, veterinary medicine, and in-transit bonded area for live animal cargo.
