Amazon Deepens Commitment to Delivery Service Partners and Drivers Through a $450 Million Investment
Amazon announced two new value-added services to empower Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) to offer best-in-class benefits for their drivers. A new academic program, Next Mile, provides drivers employed by participating DSPs with up to $5,250 per year to access more than 1,700 academic programs, including bachelor’s and associate degrees, skill certifications, and high school completion courses. Horizon Air’s board of directors has elected 39-year airline veteran Shelly Parker as vice president of inflight and station operations at Horizon Air. In this role, Parker will oversee more than 2,000 Horizon flight attendants and airport agents, lead operational and financial performance for these groups, and manage the teams responsible for supporting these critical customer service positions for Horizon Air’s stations and inflight teams. United today announced a $15 million investment in Eve Air Mobility and a conditional purchase agreement for 200 four-seat electric aircraft plus 200 options, expecting the first deliveries as early as 2026. Governor Kathy Hochul celebrated a key milestone in the Port Authority’s transformation of John F. Kennedy International Airport with the groundbreaking for a $9.5 billion, privately financed New Terminal One.
