On Friday, July 30th, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, in partnership with Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, Cradle of Aviation Museum, Delta Airlines, LaGuardia Redevelopment, LaGuardia Gateway Partners, Langston Hughes Library, and the Queens Public Library, held its 3rd summer STEM program graduation at Vaughn College. Joby Aero Inc. (“Joby”), a California-based company developing all-electric aircraft for commercial passenger service, today announced it had taken the first step towards building the first eVTOL airline, by beginning the process to receive a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”). A Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate is required for Joby to operate its revolutionary aircraft as an air taxi service in cities and communities around the United States. Starting July 15, 2021, French bee will launch its first East Coast route in the U.S. between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Paris Orly Airport (ORY), making French bee the only and most economical non-stop leisure carrier from New York to Paris. Bringing the global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture closer to tri-state residents, the airline will operate three weekly direct flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Paris-Orly International Airport, increasing to four direct flights weekly in August. The Reclaiming the Sky Essay Competition provides airport and airline workers an opportunity to discuss how they can apply the lessons of 9/11’s aviation heroes profiled in “Reclaiming the Sky” to meet the challenges in their lives today. The essay competition is being conducted by the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University and will offer $3,300 in awards in three categories: Airport workers, Airline employees, and Students. The Aviation High School Education Foundation donated $20,000 to Aviation High School to be distributed to graduates through scholarships and (the highly coveted) Aviation Tool Box Awards. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has seen travel volume increase this summer and the agency is prepared to handle the bump in travelers in advance of the July 4th holiday while remaining committed to supporting a healthy and secure environment for airline passengers, TSA employees and airport personnel. However, the checkpoint experience will look different to passengers who have not flown since the start of the pandemic and individuals flying out of LaGuardia Airport, John F.
