United Airlines Buys Flight Training School

United Airlines today further expanded its innovative Aviate pilot program by signing a purchase agreement to become the only major U.S. carrier to own a flight training academy. The United Aviate Academy will give the airline more visibility and direction over the recruitment, development and training of future pilots, enabling United to increase the percentage of women and minorities who become pilots. The Port Authority released its 2019 passenger and cargo volume data across its facilities which established new records at the airports, seaport, PATH system, Goethals Bridge and Staten Island Bridges. JetBlue Airways announced multiple schedule and route changes for the new year as well as several new routes. The airline will introduce non-stop daily service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Guatemala City’s La Aurora International Airport on June 1st. Guatemala will be the 25th city served by the carrier. UPS invests in Arrival and orders 10,000 Generation 2 Electric Vehicles

UPS have announced order of 10,000 purpose-built electric vehicles from UK-based Arrival. The initial 10,000 vehicles will be rolled out in the UK, Europe and North America from 2020 to 2024 worth hundreds of millions of euros each year. UPS have the option to purchase a further order of 10,000 vehicles during this period. UPS venture capital arm also announced an investment in Arrival of an undisclosed amount. LATAM Moves New York JFK Operations to Terminal 4 Metropolitan Airport News

LATAM Airlines Group relocated its operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport from Terminal 8 to Terminal 4, where Delta serves over 90 destinations in the United States, Canada and worldwide, starting February 1, 2020.  This relocation paves the way for smoother connections in New York between LATAM and Delta flights. JetBlue for Good Carbon Neutral Metropolitan Airport News

JetBlue Airways Corp. said it will become the first large U.S. airline to offset emissions from all of its domestic flights, aiming to become carbon neutral by July as pressure grows on the industry from climate change activists. The carrier also will begin using sustainable aviation fuel on its flights from San Francisco International Airport, the New York-based airline said. JetBlue declined to disclose the cost of the offset program but said it won’t increase airfares as a result.
