K2 Security Screening Group announced today that Mara Winn has joined the company as Vice President of Aviation. In this role, Mara will lead the K2 Security Screening Group in the design, planning, management, and installation of critical security infrastructure for airports, supporting safe, efficient operations across the aviation sector.

Mara brings more than 25 years of experience spanning program management, strategic roadmap development, and full product development life cycles, from threat and needs analysis through implementation and closeout. At the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), she led the Innovation Task Force, where she modernized acquisition systems, oversaw technology deployments at airports nationwide, and managed large operational teams.

Most recently, she served as a Senior Executive with the U.S. Department of Energy in the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and the Energy Information Administration. She also supported the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office in technology insertion and radiation and nuclear detection acquisition projects.

“We are excited to welcome Mara to K2 and look forward to the expertise and leadership she brings to our aviation security mission,” said Kathy Neiswender, President of the Security Screening Group. “She has been a trusted partner to leaders across the federal government and private sector, and her addition further strengthens our position as an industry leader in aviation security.”

Mara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Smith College and a Bachelor of Engineering from Dartmouth College, as well as additional certificates from Boston University and American University. She is a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds multiple technical certifications.
