GovernorĀ KathyĀ HochulĀ today announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has reached a revised agreement withĀ TheĀ New Terminal OneĀ (NTO)Ā āĀ aĀ consortium ofĀ financial sponsorsĀ āĀ to build aĀ 2.4 million square footĀ state-of-the-art new internationalĀ terminal that will anchor theĀ southĀ side ofĀ John F. Kennedy International Airport.Ā The $9.5Ā billion projectĀ willĀ be built in phases andĀ will createĀ more thanĀ 10,000Ā jobs,Ā becomingĀ the fourth major terminalĀ project announced by the Port Authority as part of a complete transformation of JFKĀ into a world-class airport worthy of New YorkĀ and the region.Ā When completed,Ā The New TerminalĀ OneĀ will be the largest international terminal at JFKĀ and aspires to be among theĀ top-ratedĀ airport terminals in the world.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
“As we recover from this pandemic, I want to ensure that everyone traveling to New York has a welcoming and streamlined experience and that New Yorkers have the modernized transportation hubs they deserve,” Governor Hochul said. “The time to get large infrastructure projects done is now, and I’m committed to getting JFK’s brand new Terminal One underway and completed as soon as possible.”

WOW, this is wonderful, JFK Airport is going to be HUGE. Did they just say 2.4 million square feet? Isn’t that the size of Rhode Island?
