JFK T7 to host Taste of Africa Pop-Up Market in celebration of Black History Month

JFK Millennium Partners has partnered with African Restaurant Week LLC (organizers of the African Restaurant Week), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Ethiopian Airlines to bring a vibrant and engaging Pop-Up Market to JFK T7 in celebration of Black History Month. The exciting event, held for the second year in a row, will take place on February 13, 2025 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, bringing together the rich flavors, sounds, and culture of Africa and its diaspora in an unforgettable experience for T7 employees, passengers and the wider JFK airport community.

A Celebration of Culture and Community

The Taste of Africa Pop-Up Market will feature a diverse selection of cuisines representing the African diaspora, including traditional dishes and innovative fusion creations by local restaurants including Daily Dose Juice Bar, Brooklyn Suya, Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant, Amarachi catering and more. Attendees will enjoy live musical performances by Afro’Dance New York, and a live DJ spinning Afrobeats and World Music throughout the day. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore a marketplace filled with small, local businesses offering unique merchandise, gifts, handcrafted goods, and cultural treasures. In addition, attendees who purchase items at the marketplace will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win a number of exciting prizes, adding a layer of fun and engagement to the event.

JFK Millennium Partners is hosting lunch for its Terminal 7 employees, allowing them to sample a variety of mouthwatering dishes prepared by talented chefs.

“At JMP, we are driven by the belief that community is at the heart of everything we do, and that celebrating the diversity that makes New York City and our surrounding Queens community so special is essential. Hosting events like the Taste of Africa T7 Pop-Up Market during Black History Month reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive, vibrant workplace at T7 and setting a powerful example for others to follow,” said Karen Ali, Chief Operating Officer, JFK Millennium Partners. “This market is a heartfelt expression of gratitude to our T7 employees. We’re also excited to give back to our community by supporting local businesses and creating an unforgettable experience for both our employees and our passengers.”

“We are proud to partner with JFK Millennium Partners to bring the Taste of Africa Pop-Up Market to life,” said Akin Akinsanya, CEO of African Restaurant Week . “This event not only celebrates the rich and diverse cultures of the African diaspora but also provides a platform to support local small businesses and engage the JFK airport community in a meaningful way. We encourage all JFK airport workers and community members to come out and celebrate with us on February 13th.”

A Fun and Engaging Atmosphere

The event promises to be lively and interactive, with activities designed to celebrate and honor African heritage while fostering community connections. From live entertainment and music to surprise giveaways, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
