Welcome to the May issue of Metropolitan Airport News. This issue tells the story about a great New Yorker, Fiorello La Guardia. Our editor-in-chief, Julia Lauria-Blum, tells his story perfectly so the reader truly feels the passion and commitment to New York City for which this man lived his life. He was incredibly proud of the city and wanted everyone around the world to enjoy it just as he envisioned it. This feature is an excellent example of historical storytelling at its best. I hope you enjoy it.
The past few weeks sure have been busy. The Airport Community Foundation (ACF) hosted the ACF-Cup, an airport community charity soccer tournament at York College. Nothing like this has been done before, where 24 teams from prominent airport companies spent the day in friendly but serious competition with nothing but bragging rights on the line. While only one team could win the cup, all 730+ spectators, sponsors, volunteers, and airport athletes were the true winners of a glorious day spent together for the common mission of supporting the airport community. Check page 6 of this issue for the QR code to view all the photos and videos. We’ll see you there next year!

The Airport Community Foundation isn’t resting for too long after its wildly successful Soccer Tournament. Next up is the 3rd Annual ACF Golf Classic. If you want to be part of this exciting event with the added opportunity for the non-golfers to play Pickleball, get your registrations in. This is a fun event with proceeds benefiting the local community via charitable donations and scholarships. You’ll have a blast and do good at the same time.
