Welcome to the May 2026 issue of Metropolitan Airport News. This month, we are featuring the incredible public transit network in NYC’s largest borough, Queens. So many rely on public transportation throughout NYC. We require a safe and reliable system to get people to where they need to go for work, school, recreation, and everyday life. While some parts of the system are aging and being reimagined and redesigned, others are humming along and doing just great. It’s worth mentioning that Small Business Week is in May, and what fuels small businesses is people! People utilize the goods and services of the local small businesses and the people who work there. A reliable public transit system is integral to the success of small businesses throughout Queens and the communities they serve.
Congratulations to the New Terminal One team! Their incredible soccer team took home the 2nd annual Airport Community Foundation Soccer Cup. It was a rainy afternoon, but that did not stop the intense competition of the 24 airport teams who spent the day on the field. It was great to see how much pride each team took in its participation. Friends, family, and colleagues were in the stands cheering on their teams. The volunteers did a wonderful job setting up the event and keeping everyone safe and comfortable throughout the day. The sponsors were incredibly generous, making this a day to remember. Click here to check out how your teams did and click here see the photos of the photos taken throughout the day.
Next up is the Airport Community Foundation’s 4th annual golf classic and day at the club. There are two golfcourses available this year, and an option for non-golfers to spend a day at the club playing pickleball or just hanging around by the pool, enjoying all the club amenities.
