On March 31, the PAPD Emergency Service Unit welcomed 12 new members into its unit. “Today marked another first for the Port Authority Police Department whereas the Emergency Services Unit completed its first in-house field training course,” said PAPD Superintendent Edward Cetnar during the graduation. “The six-month course bolstered the unit in its ability to react, respond, mitigate, and recover from events that have an impact on the New York and New Jersey region. The intense course included training in heavy rescue, water rescue, EMT life-saving techniques, counterterrorism, detection and response for weapons of mass destruction, and a host of other expertise capabilities.”
There are now 55 members within PAPD ESU including 4 ESU Lieutenants and 5 ESU Sergeants. Congratulations to the PAPD officers who graduated from the 30-week training
