The International Synagogue

In the heart of one of the busiest transportation hubs in the world, JFK Airport, the International Synagogue stands as an oasis of calm and sanctity.

The International Synagogue – The Rabbi Alvin and Rosalind Poplack Memorial Chapel is a place where the Jewish community of New York can welcome important leaders of our community and travelers from all over the world and serves as a place for minyanim, private prayer, meditation, study and rest for the traveler and the JFK community. The synagogue also serves as a vital resource to meet the various needs of the Jewish traveler.

The synagogue provides a variety of valuable services and functions:

• Religious Services - Our chapel is available for groups who wish to gather for Shacharis, Mincha, and Maariv. (The synagogue does not have any organized prayer services).
• Rabbinic Counseling - Rabbi Korenblit can provide counseling for families who may be sending their children to study in Israel or for crisis counseling in the event of emergencies.
• Meeting/resting place - The synagogue space and conference room are available for informal or formal gatherings or to relax while waiting for your flight.
• Facility rental for various life-cycle events - Our chapel and conference rooms are available for reasonable rental rates.
• Hosting synagogue groups - Jewish groups such as NCSY, Birthright Israel, BBYO, and many others have benefited by using our space conveniently located in the International Terminal 4.
• Holiday Celebrations - Fun and exciting activities are scheduled for important Jewish holidays like Chanukah and Purim.
• Mourner Services - Our staff attends to mourners as grieving families await a coffin's transport for burial in Israel.
• Lunch and Learn - Torah study classes for JFK employees and visitors
• High School Essay Contest - To win scholarships for Israel study.
• Art and Essay contests - For school children.
• Availability of Kosher food in the terminal - The synagogue can direct you to kosher food locations.
• Resource for Halachah of Jewish travel - Provide online information to help you through your journeys.
