Paul Wiedefeld has joined HDR as director of the firm’s transportation practice in the Northeast U.S. Wiedefeld brings four decades of transportation industry experience, with half of those years as the CEO of major aviation and transit agencies. As HDR’s Northeast transportation director, he will provide leadership across 14 states from Virginia to Maine, plus the District of Columbia. IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG), has donated the capacity to transport 34 tonnes of emergency aid to Islamabad, Pakistan, following the devastating humanitarian crisis caused by floods across the country. A large consignment of over eight tonnes of vital aid was transported on September 25; this included non-perishable food, tents, clothing, and much-needed medical supplies. This flight was operated by a team of specially selected cabin crew who all have a personal connection to Pakistan. Boeing and China Airlines announced they had finalized orders for up to 24 787 Dreamliners, as the carrier invests in the fuel-efficient widebody to expand passenger and cargo operations. WestJet operated the airline’s second ever sustainable aviation fuel flight with the departure of WestJet flight WS1681 out of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to YYC Calgary International Airport. Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) announced that SATS Ltd. (SATS) had reached an agreement to acquire WFS from an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management (“Cerberus”). The transaction is valued at an enterprise value of $2.19 billion. The Qantas Group has appointed Stephanie Tully as the new Chief Executive Officer of Jetstar Airways. This follows the announcement in June that current Jetstar CEO, Gareth Evans, will leave his role by the end of calendar 2022. Stephanie Tully joined the national carrier in 2004 and has worked across operational, commercial, marketing, and customer loyalty functions in progressively more senior roles. She has been a Group Executive and Chief Customer Officer since 2019.
