AECOM announced it has signed a strategic agreement with Genifuel Corporation to scale production of carbon-neutral sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biogas from wild algae and biosolids. The partnership employs a patent-pending process developed by AECOM to harvest wild algae and a patented process developed by Genifuel and the U.S. Department of Energy to convert algae and wastewater biosolids into renewable oil and gas. Alliance Ground International (AGI) opened its newest location at John F. Kennedy International airport (JFK). Building 22 has been in the JFK market for nearly 25 years, first opened by United Cargo in 1997. Working with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, AGI took possession of the building in late fall and began preparing it for occupancy. “Building 22’s launch customers are Cargolux Airlines and Turkish Cargo, the latter of whom begins operations March 15th,” shares Warren Jones, AGI’s vice president for business development. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chair and CEO Janno Lieber today announced the appointment of former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey as the next president of New York City Transit. As president, Davey will oversee the 54,000-person workforce, as well as operations for New York City subways, buses, paratransit services, and the Staten Island Railway. Davey served in several high-ranking transit leadership posts in Massachusetts and has a background in every mode of public transportation. The Women in Aviation Advisory Board held its final meeting today and voted unanimously to submit its report to the FAA Administrator at the meeting. The FAA will post the report on its website later this week after the board transmits it to the agency. The FAA will review the report and consider the strategies and recommendations outlined to support its efforts in encouraging women to apply their specialized skills in the aviation field.
