On February 4th, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported a dramatic increase in laser strikes against aircraft in the United States – 9,723 reports in 2021 alone – a 40% increase over 2020. Despite the FAA threatening civil and criminal penalties plus $11,000 fines for people that shine lasers at aircraft, the number of incidents isn’t dropping. Delta has withdrawn its codeshare services operated in conjunction with Russian national airline, Aeroflot, effective immediately. “We have removed our code from Aeroflot-operated services beyond Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and removed Aeroflot’s code from Delta-operated services from Los Angeles and New York-JFK. Accommodations will be made for customers affected by these changes.” Delta does not operate services to Ukraine or Russia.

Governor Kathy Hochul, Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton, Delta Air Lines, and Queens Museum Executive Director Sally Tallant today announced the selection of six world-renowned, New York-based artists to create permanent large-scale art installations at Delta’s $4 billion new Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport.
