Boeing and Silk Way today announced an order for 10 737 MAX 8 airplanes. Delta Air Lines and Korean Air have reached an agreement to deepen their historic partnership with an expanded trans-Pacific network that will increase travel choices and boost competition between the U.S. and Asia. The airlines signed a memorandum of understanding to implement a joint venture arrangement, which will offer customers access to the most comprehensive route network, industry-leading airline products, world-class airport facilities and a seamless customer experience. Intrepid Aviation announced today the delivery of an A330-300 on long-term lease to Turkish Airlines following completion of an interior cabin reconfiguration and other works performed by SR Technics in Zurich. This marks the fourth of seven Rolls-Royce powered A330 aircraft to be delivered to the Istanbul based flag carrier. Intrepid Aviation is a privately held commercial aircraft lessor. Intrepid and its team of experienced professionals invest in and manage a fleet of modern, in demand commercial jet aircraft on long-term lease to airline customers worldwide. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines and foreign airlines serving the United States carried an all-time high of 928.9 million system-wide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in 2016, 3.5 percent more than the previous record high of 897.9 million reached in 2015. The system-wide increase was the result of a 3.3 percent rise from 2015 in the number of passengers on domestic flights (719.0 million in 2016) and 4.0 percent growth from 2015 in passengers on U.S. and foreign airlines’ flights to and from the U.S. (209.9 million in 2016)…

Boeing and Ryanair celebrated the delivery today of the airline’s 450th Next-Generation 737-800. Delta Air Lines will offer a new daily nonstop flight between New York-JFK (JFK) and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, beginning Dec. 21, 2017, subject to U.S. Department of Transportation approval.
