Emirates will introduce a new service to enable customers to use their laptops and tablet devices until just before they board their flights to the US. Emirates customers traveling to the US via Dubai will be able to utilize their laptops and tablet devices on the first part of their journeys, and also during transit in Dubai. They must then declare and hand over their laptops, tablets, and other banned electronic devices to security staff at the gate just before boarding their US-bound flight. Alaska Airlines and Virgin America today shared their vision for the future of the combined carrier as the company solidifies its status as the West Coast’s premier airline. After careful consideration, the combined company will adopt Alaska’s name and logo, retiring the Virgin America name likely sometime in 2019. However, the combined airline will adopt many of the brand elements that Virgin America enthusiasts love about their favorite airline, including enhanced in-flight entertainment, mood lighting, music and the relentless desire to make flying a different experience for guests. JetBlue today announced the introduction of its newest JetBlue Mint partner, New York City-based Milk Bar, which celebrates both Milk Bar’s irresistible culinary treats and the undeniable fun of this iconic brand. Beginning in April, all JetBlue Mint travelers will be delighted with a pre-arrival Milk Bar cookie. United Airlines today is enabling customers to move through the screening process quicker at its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport with the opening of a fully redesigned and consolidated security checkpoint in Terminal C. Setting a new record-high for spring travel, Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, expects 145 million passengers – nearly 2.4 million per day – to fly globally on U.S. airlines between March 1 and April 30, an increase of 4 percent over last spring’s 140 million passengers. Citing the critical importance of the Transportation Security Administration to the safe, secure and efficient movement of air cargo, the Airforwarders Association (AfA) today called on President Trump to nominate a new Administrator for the agency. The TSA has been without a confirmed Administrator since the end of the last Presidential administration when Peter Neffinger retired from the agency. Malawi Airlines on Thursday booked its space in the aviation history books with the company’s maiden all-female operated, and supported flight. The Bombardier Q-400 flew from Blantyre to Dar es Salaam and back with Capt. UPS announced plans to build an additional six compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations and add 390 new CNG tractors and terminal trucks and 50 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles to its alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. Emirates today commenced daily passenger service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Dubai International Airport, via Athens International Airport. A VIP delegation and contingent of international media were aboard the inaugural flight, which carried passengers from Athens, Dubai and points beyond. Newark becomes Emirates’ 12th U.S. gateway, and is the second serving the greater Tri-State Area, complementing Emirates’ existing four daily flights from Dubai and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
