Kennedy International Airport, is pleased to announce that it is the first airport terminal in the world to partner with Google to bring the Google Assistant’s interpreter mode real-time translation technology to customers traveling through T4. The Assistant’s interpreter mode, which can translate conversations across 29 languages in real-time, is now available on Google Nest Hubs placed at the Welcome Center in the Arrivals Hall as well as at the post-security information booth/help desk located in the retail lounge. On January 6th, Atlantic Joint Business partners American Airlines and British Airways joined New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to announce the start of construction on a $344 million investment at New York’s John F. JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announced that it will offset carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) from jet fuel for all domestic JetBlue flights beginning in July 2020, making it the first major U.S. airline to take this critical and measurable step toward reducing its contribution to global warming. JetBlue also announced plans to start flying with sustainable aviation fuel in mid-2020 on flights from San Francisco International Airport. Mobility solution provider Bombardier Transportation announced today that it renewed a contract with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to provide operations and maintenance services for the Authority’s automated transit system (AirTrain JFK) at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. As Gold Star families arrived at Norfolk International Airport to board the 2019 Snowball Express, they were warmly greeted by more than 280 service members and community volunteers from the Hampton Roads area. On the weekend of December 13th, Alaska Airlines ran its’ annual Fantasy Flight arrived at the “North Pole” to bring smiles and holiday cheer to 65 children, many of whom live in shelters or transitional housing. For most of the kids, it was their first time on an airplane. Delta’s work to create a sustainable future continues with a long-term offtake agreement under which Delta will purchase 10 million gallons per year of advanced renewable biofuels from Gevo. Sustainable aviation fuels provide significant environmental benefits because the lifecycle carbon footprint can be up to 75 percent less than conventional jet fuel. Delta’s agreement with Gevo complements the airline’s recent $2 million investment in Northwest Advanced Bio-fuels, LLC for the feasibility study of a facility to produce sustainable aviation fuel and other biofuel products in Washington State. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has awarded Fraport USA a five-year contract to manage the retail concessions space of Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Fraport USA will provide retail management services (including food court and common areas) and manage the loading dock/storage facilities at Terminal B. The EWR contract is the third new concessions award within the last three years won by Fraport USA – a leading developer of airport retail concessions programs in North America. The ARK at JFK announces the appointment of Vincent DiCicco, DVM who will be joining the management team as Veterinary and Bio-Security Compliance Officer, effective January 2, 2020. In this role, DiCicco will be responsible for ensuring The ARK’s compliance with best bio-security and animal welfare practices throughout The ARK’s operations, including the ARK Pet Oasis, Equine Export, Equine Import, and Ground Handling.
