Welcome to the February issue of the Metropolitan Airport News. Hopefully, you’re staying warm and enjoying the winter season so far.
This month’s feature article, “Looking Up!”, focuses on the popular hobby of plane spotting. Plane spotting combines two passions, aviation, and photography; it has grown wildly in popularity worldwide. The metropolitan New York area has a very active plane-spotting community benefiting from the many vantage points at our airports. So check out the feature to find some great resources; you never know, maybe it will become a new hobby for you too!
January was full of events showcasing the good work provided by local companies and organizations that benefit the airport and local communities. JFKIAT, the Terminal 4 operators at JFK airport, had a wonderful event to ring in the new year, and thank all those who contribute to the terminal’s success. GatewayJFK also had a grand affair with community stakeholders on and off the airport. By bringing the two communities together, we can operate as a cohesive economic engine for one another’s benefit. GatewayJFK aims to advocate for employment, training, business opportunities, community support, and safety for those who live and work off the airport in the surrounding areas.
There is so much going on at the airports for 2023; check the Metropolitan Airport News calendar for the most up-to-date airport events. Make sure to get involved with A New JFK; you will learn about all the current and upcoming airport projects and business opportunities.
Also, check Council for Airport Opportunity for available employment opportunities, and don’t forget to register on the Metropolitan Airport News job board. Many airport companies are hiring for various levels of skill and experience. So whether you’re looking for a new career or just entering the workforce, there is no shortage of positions available at our local airports.
