JetBlue today announced the appointment of Brandon Nelson as the corporation’s General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Nelson will lead JetBlue’s Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Cybersecurity, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts. He will report to JetBlue’s Chief Executive Officer, Robin Hayes.

Mr. Nelson joined JetBlue in 2005 and previously served as Director, Corporate Counsel and Assistant Secretary before being promoted in 2009 to Vice President, Associate General Counsel. He has served as General Counsel on an acting basis since July 2018. He also serves on the investment committee of the company’s Silicon Valley-based corporate venture capital fund, JetBlue Technology Ventures, and is a trustee of the company’s 401(k) Plan.

Prior to JetBlue, Nelson practiced corporate and business litigation law at firms in California and New York, including Shearman & Sterling. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Howard University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.

“Over the years Brandon has proven a keen ability to navigate JetBlue through the complexities of our industry’s constantly shifting landscape,” said Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s Chief Executive Officer. “As we enter JetBlue’s 20th year with many exciting ventures ahead of us, I am confident Brandon’s leadership and counsel will serve our company and our crewmembers well.”

“It’s a real honor to step into this role at such an exciting time in JetBlue’s history as we set our company up for its next chapter of success,” said Nelson. “We have an amazing team of crewmembers and working together I am confident we will continue to do great things for our brand, our customers, and our communities.”
