Welcome to the June issue of the Metropolitan Airport News. We interviewed aviation icon David Neeleman, founder, and chief executive officer of Breeze Airways, in this issue. Breeze Airways is developing new routes and providing excellent options for travelers all across the country, including Long Island and Westchester county.
As we go around the airport this month, we see that passengers are back, and companies are hiring. The airport redevelopment projects are happening at JFK and EWR; LGA Delta opened their new terminal, and in-person events and meetings are once again being held around the airports. It’s nice to get back together and enjoy the airport community and the opportunities this economic engine provides to the workers, businesses, stakeholders, and local communities.
Now is the time if you’re looking to reinvent yourself, find a new position, or refer a friend to become an airport worker.
Let’s look to David Neeleman for inspiration. There is certainly a ‘no risk/no reward’ theme in the way he has handled opportunities and roadblocks that have presented themselves throughout his career. Although setbacks are inevitable in any endeavor, if we keep moving forward, get creative, surround ourselves with smart and savvy people, and ‘be nice to everyone,’ we may experience our own version of success and become visionaries in our own rights. We can hope, right?
As we go into summer, I wish you, your family, and your colleagues all the best. I hope you enjoy the issue and that you can get out there and take advantage of some of the airport opportunities, clubs, and events planned for this summer!
