Welcome to the March issue of the Metropolitan Airport News. As part of Women’s History Month, we are pleased to bring you our latest featured article, “Women in Air Cargo – The Rise of Women in the Industry,” focusing on the ever-evolving and diversifying sector. Like much of the aviation industry, this segment has historically been male-dominated. Previously, women worked in the air cargo workforce, mainly in office-based support roles. Today, the industry is incredibly diverse, and talent is acknowledged regardless of gender.
We remain flush with airport events and things to look forward to in the coming months. A few key items are programs brought to the airport community by the JFK Airport Rotary Club. In partnership with PANYNJ and Northwell health, please save the date, March 15, for the first JFK Airport Wellness Program. Check the calendar in this issue or online for the registration information.
And, of course, don’t forget the iconic JFK Rotary Run the Runway 5K on April 30! You will never regret being out on a runway at JFK airport. Make sure to bring your friends and family!
Speaking of air cargo, the JFK Air Cargo Association is holding its Air Cargo Expo on March 30, with Keynote Speaker Tom Schmitt, President, Chairman & CEO, Forward, and moderated by the Airforwarders Association’s Brandon Fried.
Don’t forget to check the Metropolitan Airport News online calendar for the most up-to-date reference for airport events. www.metroairportnews.com/airport-events
