Miles Petroleum

Looking back to the early days of 1937, Miles Petroleum founder Jack Stern had the Idea of supplying the general public with oil products. Back then, oil and lubricants were transported in steel containers that looked like milk cans. Today, Miles Petroleum delivers cases, 5-gallon pails, 55-gallon steel drums, 275-gallon totes, and bulk delivery by truck. After more than 86 years, Miles Petroleum realizes this is only the beginning of the company’s history.

Jack Stern’s vision was to supply quality products with exceptional customer service, and his vision still stands true today. As a result, Miles Petroleum is a leading supplier of all major oil companies in addition to their own “Superior Private Label” brand, “MILES”; the name indicates how far they are willing to go for their clients.

Jack’s son, Morton (aka Morty), worked closely with his dad. Morty showed great dedication to the company, and his industry knowledge and experience benefited the company in many ways.

In 1965, Morty Stern inherited the company from his father and became the new president of Miles Petroleum, and under his supervision, the Miles brand continued its expansion. Morty developed various formulations for new applications within the industries it serves, and even today, Miles Petroleum remains on the cutting edge of technology.

In 1985 Morty and Angela Stern began their journey in life together. Angela became the Executive Business Manager of the company and had the same passion for making Miles Petroleum a business with exceptional customer service and cutting-edge technology.

It has been nearly 30 years since Morty Stern’s passing. Since then, the company has been in the capable hands of its current President and CEO, Angela Stern. She has kept the family business running smoothly, along with her son Eddie Sullivan and a staff of highly qualified and very dedicated employees.

Miles Petroleum is a certified MWBE, WOSB, and also holds certifications with the Port Authority of NY & NJ, DBE, SBE, ACDEBE, and the EMPIRE STATE DEVELOPMENT of New York State Dept of Economic Development.

The company is proud to serve the City of New York, the Staten Island Ferry, MTA, KAAMCO, MACH I, and Modern Aviation, to name a few of their dedicated clients. Miles Petroleum also services many different types of industries, including the airline, marine, and automotive industries.

If it moves, Miles Petroleum keeps it moving!
