On Thursday, May 25th, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Town Board welcomed the USAF Thunderbirds and their team to Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) before the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach over Memorial Day weekend.
MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelly LaRose-Arken, Deputy Commissioner Robert Schneider, and New York State Parks staff joined in welcoming the Thunderbird team’s arrival. The Thunderbirds headlined the show, which took place on Saturday, May 27th, and Sunday, the 28th.
In addition to the USAF Thunderbirds, the lineup included the U.S. Army Golden Knights, a U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue demonstration, the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B team, the U.S. Navy Growler Legacy Team, American Airpower Museum Warbirds, the Civil Air Patrol, aerobatic pilot, David Windmiller, Folds of Honor biplane with Col. (ret) Ed Hamill, Michael Goulian, one of North America’s most decorated aerobatic pilots and aviation professionals, the Skytypers team of five North American SNJ aircraft, and the Farmingdale State College Aviation’s Flying Rams, flying five of their 22 college-owned aircraft, piloted by five of the College’s recent Professional Pilot Program graduates.
