United Calibrate Apprenticeship Program

United Airlines announced the launch of Calibrate, an in-house apprenticeship program that will help grow and diversify its pipeline of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs). The inaugural class starts next week in Houston as the airline plans to train more than 1,000 people at about a dozen locations by 2026, with the goal of at least half being women or people of color. Calibrate is a 36-month program in which participants “earn and learn” getting paid while completing the full-time certification and training process. JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT) recognized Operation Supervisors Sabrina Noomen and Lucy Ramirez for going above and beyond to protect the airport community. While Sabrina and Lucy were conducting their routine walkthrough, they noticed smoke from debris stuck in a ceiling light in one of the terminal’s elevators. Because of their attention to detail and proactive attitude, these diligent employees prevented a possible building fire. Einride Completes Historic Autonomous Vehicle Pilot on U.S. Public Road With GE Appliances

Freight mobility technology company Einride completed a public road pilot of Einride’s autonomous, electric vehicle in Selmer, Tennessee. After receiving the first U.S. approval for operations of this new type of vehicle from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) earlier this year, Einride completed this industry first by operating a fully autonomous, electric vehicle without a safety driver on board on U.S. public roads. United and Jaguar Launch the First All-Electric Gate-to-Gate Airport Transfer Service in the U.S.

United Airlines and Jaguar North America today launched the first gate-to-gate airport transfer service powered by an all-electric fleet in the U.S. Starting this month at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, select MileagePlus Premier members can enjoy chauffeured rides between their connecting aircraft in the 2023 Jaguar I-PACE HSE, the first all-electric performance SUV from Jaguar.
