The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) was founded on December 1, 1941, to mobilize the nation’s civilian aviation resources for national defense service. Since its earliest days, this vigilant organization of citizen Airmen has been committed to service to the United States and evolved into a premier public service organization that carries out emergency service missions when needed in the air and on the ground. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) continues its annual tradition of partnering with Wreaths Across America to pay homage to over 200,000 veterans and family members interred at Long Island National Cemetery (LINC). CAP’s Long Island Senior Squadron (LISS) Volunteers participated in the Wreaths Across America wreath laying at LINC on Saturday, December 14. Last year, more than three million wreaths were laid through Wreaths Across America nationally at over 4,000 locations.
