Delta TechOps Donates Pratt & Whitney JT8D Engine to Vaughn College

Vaughn College, a partner school for Delta TechOps, received an engine donation in March to assist students studying to become aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) with their training. Through Delta TechOps’ TechU AMT career pathway program, Delta’s partnership with Vaughn College plays a vital role in meeting the demand for certified AMTs in the metropolitan region as well as across the nation.  The donated engine is a JT8D, an engine that is considered highly durable and reliable, having completed more than 673 million dependable flying hours since entering service. Qatar Airways Cargo and Hactl partner in canine detection to sniff out lithium batteries.

Qatar Airways Cargo and its ground handler Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (Hactl), have teamed up to provide an extra layer of security for the airline’s ex-Hong Kong flights, using technical detection dogs to sniff out hidden lithium batteries in air cargo. The detection service is being provided by leading specialist MSA Security, An Allied Universal Company (MSA), which now operates a team of security experts and sniffer dogs within a dedicated area of Hactl’s SuperTerminal 1 facility. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced that Newark Liberty International Airport’s 5-megawatt (MW) solar project at the Terminal A parking garage, which is the largest single solar rooftop project at any U.S. airport, has generated one gigawatt-hour of power after just two months of operation. ATSG Celebrates First Boeing Converted Freighter Delivered to Long-Time Customer Amerijet

Air Transport Services Group, Inc. recently announced the addition of two newly converted Boeing 767-300 freighters to their leasing fleet, one of which is the company’s first Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF). The second aircraft was converted by Tel Aviv-based Israel Aerospace Industries. ATSG’s leasing subsidiary, Cargo Aircraft Management, will lease both aircraft to Miami-based Amerijet International, which currently leases nine other aircraft from CAM.
