The Port Authority is introducing a new code of ethics for its vendors, contractors and consultants, part of a comprehensive integrity program adopted by the agency’s Board of Commissioners in September. The program is designed to ensure the highest level of integrity and accountability by Port Authority employees and those hired for any work done on behalf of the Port Authority. The new vendor code strengthens the framework overall and codifies in one place various provisions related to vendor integrity that have been previously included in the Port Authority’s policies and contract provisions. Canam-Bridges will supply 3,600 tons of components to build the steel structures of four new access ramps at LaGuardia Airport in New York on behalf of the Skanska / Walsh joint venture. The redevelopment of the Central Terminal B is being completed through a public-private partnership and will be delivered in design-build mode. The four access ramps will be made up of transfer box girders and assembled plate-girders. These ramps will allow access to the upper and lower levels of the departure area. Boeing and Turkish Airlines celebrated the delivery today of the airline’s first 777 Freighter, the world’s longest-range twin-engine freighter. The Port Authority Board of Commissioners today approved $496 million for major landside and airside projects as part of the overall $2.3 billion Terminal A Redevelopment Program at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). The board’s commitment will significantly advance the redevelopment program, which is designed to deliver a new terminal that will comprise one million square feet, accommodate 33 aircraft gates, provide a more efficient roadway network and create parking for about 3,000 vehicles. Delta Air Lines and WestJet have agreed to deepen their existing partnership by entering into a comprehensive transborder joint venture that will increase travel choices between the U.S. and Canada. Qantas today announced it will operate the world’s first bio-fuel flight between the United States and Australia. The Los Angeles to Melbourne flight will take place early next year, in collaboration with World Fuel Services and Altair Fuels, and will see Qantas’ new Dreamliner being powered by Brassica Carinata (carinata), a non-food, industrial type of mustard seed. Carinata produces high quality oil, ideal for aviation biofuel, bio-jet for aircraft and bio-diesel for airport vehicles.
