When United Airlines’ Terminal C at Newark Liberty completes its $120 million re-imagining, 55 new restaurants and food markets will have opened their doors to serve more than 350,000 customers who travel through the terminal each week. It takes a small city to create these culinary experiences daily, and that city now includes Mélange Bakery Cafe, a 24-hour production bakery inside the airport, providing the freshest baked goods to travelers terminal-wide. Southwest Airlines Co. and Discovery Channel are teaming up once again to bring television’s most anticipated summer event, Shark Week, to new heights. Today, Southwest revealed a Shark Week- themed 737-700 aircraft with an all new, larger-than-life underwater scene depicting five shark species along the fuselage. The American Airlines Education Foundation yesterday awarded $801,000 in scholarships to 300 children of employees, an increase of 5 percent compared to 2016. Each recipient will receive a $2,500 scholarship and 51 first generation college students will each receive an additional one-time award of $1,000. Norwegian launched its first nonstop transatlantic flight from Stewart International Airport to Edinburgh Airport in Scotland. This is the first of five routes that will operate from the airport. The airline’s other routes to Ireland, Northern Ireland and Norway will launch in July.
