With 85 individual events presented worldwide, Women in Aviation International’s September 25 Girls in Aviation Day 2021 reached nearly 10,000 attendees. While a majority of events were held in person, many were organized for virtual gatherings through the use of the Aviation for Girls App and additional video content. A hand full of events will continue to take place through the end of October. Truly an international event, Girls in Aviation Day was celebrated not just in the United States, but in 17 other countries across North and Central America and Australia as well as countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.…
The annual event at Russo’s on the Bay was a festive luncheon with excellent food, music and shared culture. You didn’t have to be Italian to fit right in. The event reflects the camaraderie and brotherhood of the CBP and other agencies that support the association in their charitable endeavors throughout the airport community.

JetBlue announced plans to speed up its transition to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with an offtake agreement with SG Preston, a leading bioenergy developer. With the addition of this SG Preston agreement to its previous SAF commitments, JetBlue is well ahead of pace on its target to convert 10 percent of its total fuel usage to SAF on a blended basis by 2030. The airline will reach nearly 8% SAF usage by the end of 2023 when delivery of SAF under this agreement is expected. Delta is one of the 2021 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America as ranked by the health analytics platform Springbuk. Delta ranked No. 4 on the list. Scoring is based on six categories: culture and leadership commitment; foundational components; strategic planning; communications and marketing; programming and interventions; and reporting and analytics. The 8th annual Delta Wings of Hope golf tournament took place on October 4th at the North Hills Country Club located in Manhasset, NY. Delta has partnered with the American Cancer Society for more than 17 years beginning with local Relay For Life events and growing into a company-wide, international fundraising campaign. The Delta Wings of Hope tournament raised approximately $500,000 this year. Last year’s event was postponed due to COVID-19.

There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the LaGuardia AirTrain project since its early design days. Although there has always been community and political opposition, the FAA green-lighted the project after an exhaustive review of impacts and alternatives. On September 20th, charges were filed in Queens court alleging the LaGuardia AirTrain $2.1 Billion transportation project was approved based on a “cherry-picked” environmental review by the FAA and ignored possible alternatives. The plaintiffs wanted the court to immediately halt the project. The allegations are nothing new, the FAA reviewed the decision extensively and came to the same determination, the…
