TAP Air Portugal is once again operating from all 7 of its US gateways with the return of service from New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport last night. With daily service from JFK through January and for the summer season, New Yorkers will have three daily flights to Lisbon on TAP, from JFK and Newark Liberty International, with fares starting as low as $421 roundtrip. In a major step towards digitalization and improving quality in worldwide cargo handling, Lufthansa Cargo is partnering with IBS Software to digitalize critical handling processes for special products and services like dangerous goods, pharmaceuticals, and fresh produce. The deployment represents significant progress for Lufthansa Cargo’s “Mobile Digital Handling” initiative, created to eliminate paper-based processes across its operations by digitalizing tasks and process checks carried out by its Ground Handling Agent (GHA) partners. JetBlue has announced it is expanding its codeshare with Icelandair – the national carrier of Iceland – to offer customers more ways to book and connect their travel between the two airlines’ networks across Europe and North America. Islip Town officials unveiled a new sign welcoming travelers to Long Island MacArthur Airport (KISP) in Ronkonkoma. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Long Island MacArthur Airport Commissioner, Shelley LaRose-Arken; Deputy Commissioner Robert Schneider; Town Councilman John Cochrane, Jr. and Commissioner, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and DPW, Tom Owens. As the U.S. reopens to fully vaccinated international travelers, Delta Air Lines is reuniting families and friends who have been kept apart for the past 20 months. In the six weeks since the U.S reopening was announced, Delta has seen a 450% increase in international point-of-sale bookings versus the six weeks prior to the announcement. During the Airport Design Challenge, students have the opportunity to design virtual airports in Minecraft based on guidance from FAA aerospace and engineering experts. Participating students meet aviation professionals, engage with other designers, and learn about the aerospace industry. The challenge offers first-hand experience in an aviation-related application of STEM concepts and helps students apply their academic knowledge and skills to professional simulations. While participants are encouraged to form teams of up to five members, they may also participate individually.
