The Boeing Company and Embraer  today confirmed the two companies are engaged in discussions regarding a potential combination, the basis of which remains under discussion. There is no guarantee a transaction will result from these discussions. Boeing and Embraer do not intend to make any additional comments regarding these discussions. Any transaction would be subject to the approval of the Brazilian government and regulators, the two companies’ boards and Embraer’s shareholders.

The Port Authority and the Shomrim Society of the Port Authority will formally re-dedicate the return of a new Hanukkah menorah during a ceremony at the World Trade Center site at 5:10 p.m. on Monday, December 18. The re-dedication ceremony will take place in the eastern half of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub Oculus, where it will be on display during the Hanukkah seasons. The new menorah was designed and built by Michael and Bonnie Berkowicz, who in the 1990s designed and built two 7½ foot menorahs that were on public display in the Twin Towers for 10 years.…

The Port Authority today launched its most comprehensive recruitment initiative ever to attract veterans for available agency jobs, with the goal of having those who served in the U.S. military comprise 5 percent of the agency’s workforce in 2020. The new policy aligns with a Board of Commissioners directive in September that the agency greatly enhance its existing recruitment of veterans for available positions. Under the new initiative, the Port Authority and PATH will consider active military duty in place of certain education requirements in assessing qualifications for a position and waive all test application fees for veterans. The Port Authority is introducing a new code of ethics for its vendors, contractors and consultants, part of a comprehensive integrity program adopted by the agency’s Board of Commissioners in September. The program is designed to ensure the highest level of integrity and accountability by Port Authority employees and those hired for any work done on behalf of the Port Authority. The new vendor code strengthens the framework overall and codifies in one place various provisions related to vendor integrity that have been previously included in the Port Authority’s policies and contract provisions. LaGuardia Airport New York

Canam-Bridges will supply 3,600 tons of components to build the steel structures of four new access ramps at LaGuardia Airport in New York on behalf of the Skanska / Walsh joint venture. The redevelopment of the Central Terminal B is being completed through a public-private partnership and will be delivered in design-build mode. The four access ramps will be made up of transfer box girders and assembled plate-girders. These ramps will allow access to the upper and lower levels of the departure area.
