The first delivery of an A321 aircraft from the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility to Delta Air Lines took place today, in Mobile, Alabama. On hand for the occasion were executives from Airbus and Delta Air Lines, a team of Delta employees from the airline’s Minneapolis-St. Paul station, and representatives of the more than 370 employees at the facility. NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen thanked members of New York’s Long Island business aviation community for their grassroots efforts to stop proposals in Washington, DC for creating a privatized ATC system funded by user fees, and told them their efforts would again be needed in the new year as the issue was sure to come up again in the next session of Congress. Bliss Jet, based in New York, said they will start service in January between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and London’s Stansted Airport, offering seats on “shared private jets.” The company says they will offer seats on a variety of business jets, carrying 10 to 14 passengers, at a price less than $12,000 – not much more expensive than a full gate first class seat. “We are offering all the advantages of a private jet experience without the expense,” said Bliss Jet CEO David Rimmer. Hawaiian Airlines, Hawai’i’s largest and longest-serving carrier, has unveiled new uniforms for more than 5,000 front-line employees including Airport Customer Service, Cabin Service, Cargo, In-Flight, Line Service, Maintenance, Ramp, and Supply. The new designs are a collaboration among Affinity Apparel, renowned Hilo-based design firm Sig Zane Kaiao, and a committee of 40 front-line Hawaiian employees representing a variety of job functions. In a continuing effort to produce the best-trained flight crews in the regional airline industry, Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (RJETQ/OTC) has taken delivery of a new state-of-the-art Cabin Trainer at the Indianapolis Training Center, where thousands of Pilots and Flight Attendants will use the facility each year. The 15-ton, 60-foot-long Cabin Trainer is a scaled-down version of an Embraer 170/175 interior, complete with a cockpit, galley, two-class seating, lavatory, emergency escape slide and more.
