While Thanksgiving travel has certainly been lighter than usual, U.S. air travel hit its highest level since mid-March 2019 over the holiday and millions of Americans still traveled by car. More people passed through U.S. airport security checkpoints the Sunday after Thanksgiving than on any other single day since the coronavirus pandemic paralyzed air travel, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint at Westchester County Airport (HPN) is now using new technology that confirms the validity of a traveler’s identification (ID) and confirms their flight information in near real time. “The new credential authentication technology at the Westchester County Airport checkpoint improves upon TSA’s detection capabilities for identifying fake IDs such as driver’s licenses and passports at checkpoints and improves upon our security efficiency by automatically verifying passenger identification,” said Robert Duffy, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport. “The system also has the capability of confirming the passenger’s flight status in near real time.” Passengers…

One of Germany’s premier flying taxi startups just gained a foothold in the US. Lilium, the five-year-old venture-backed startup from Munich, announced that it will build a 56,000-square-foot transportation hub for its aerial taxi service in Orlando, Florida. Amazon adds to warehouse space in New York with Red Hook acquisition

Fears of an impending truck-apocalypse are picking up speed in Red Hook, as Amazon plans yet another “last-mile” distribution center in the waterfront neighborhood.
