On May 23rd, Republic Airport staff members held a ‘Green FRG’ event to plant new trees at the airport entrance on Route 109 in Farmingdale. Republic Airport Commission member Stella Barbera, and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Director Lowell Lingo were there to lend a hand.

CLEAR, an authorized TSA PreCheck® enrollment provider, continues to expand locations to enroll and renew consumers in the Trusted Traveler program by opening a new location at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). CLEAR now has 13 TSA PreCheck enrollment locations open across the U.S. The launch of the enrollment location at JFK represents the ongoing expansion of CLEAR’s national TSA PreCheck enrollment footprint. American Airlines Group Inc. announced that Vasu Raja, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, will depart the airline in June. Raja has served as American’s Chief Commercial Officer since April 2022. Previously, he was the Chief Revenue Officer and Senior Vice President of Network Strategy, where he was responsible for Networks and Alliances. Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a member of the SATS Group, has been selected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to operate a new Centralized Examination Station (CES) at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). WFS has been awarded a five-year contract by CBP, one of the world’s largest law enforcement organizations and the United States’ first unified border entity, which takes a comprehensive approach to border management and control, combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection. World Wide Flight Services (WFS) and ASAK Solutions led an effort, in collaboration with the JFK Air Cargo Association, to bring Fordham’s Edge4Vets program to NY airports. The program prepares and connects veterans to jobs that can lead to air cargo careers. TSA and Customs & Border Patrol participated as Edge4Vets introduced its nationally successful jobs prep program with a workshop on May 22 hosted by Vaughn College. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the It’s Cool to Fly American (ICTFA) program, an initiative centered around preparing children and their families for air travel through mock travel experiences managed by American’s Abilities Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG). JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), the company selected by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to build and operate John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new world-class, $4.2 billion Terminal 6, and Aer Lingus today announced that the airline will make Terminal 6 its new home at JFK and begin operations on the first day of the Terminal’s opening to passengers in early 2026. JFK Terminal One Group Association (TOGA) and Ink Innovation, a travel technology provider, have announced the expansion of the Ink Disaster Recovery System (Ink DRS) at JFK Terminal One. Ink will deploy the solution across the entire operation, helping to deliver operational resilience for the airport’s airline partners. TOGA, a partnership between Air France, Korean Air, and Lufthansa, has operated in Terminal One at JFK, a hub for its founding airlines and 26 other international carriers. Spirit Airlines announced the opening of a new crew base for Pilots at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in September 2024, furthering the airline’s investments to enhance operational reliability. Spirit expects to locate approximately 200 Pilots in Newark initially, with additional supervisors and support functions to follow. Crew bases are the various airport stations where flight crews typically begin and end their trips. Newark is well suited for the new Pilot crew base thanks to its strategic location within Spirit’s network and sizeable flight schedule.
