Lufthansa Cargo is adjusting its freighter route network on both long-haul and short- and medium-haul routes in response to a corresponding demand for the 2023 summer flight schedule. Weekly frequencies to destinations in China served by Boeing 777F aircraft will be both increased and combined in routing, offering customers more flexible capacity for the fast and direct transport of their shipments. In addition, Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its A321F network on short- and medium-haul routes. Condor Airlines, Germany’s most popular leisure airline, announces the appointment of Mikko Turtiainen to the position of director of sales, The Americas. Effective immediately, Turtiainen is responsible for leading sales, strategy, and growth in North America. He is also in charge of continuing to build Condor’s brand awareness and sales from consumer and B2B channels in the U.S. and Canada. China Eastern Airlines has extended its cargo partnership with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) with a new contract to handle Boeing 777 cargo-only flights in Liege. The new three-year agreement between the companies will see WFS handling a forecasted 32,000 tonnes of cargo per annum carried onboard up to nine 777 flights a week into the Belgian airport from Yantai Penglai International Airport in China’s Shandong Province. As well as warehouse operations, WFS provides ramp handling for the airline’s 777 services. The contract in Liege increases WFS’ role as one of China Eastern’s preferred cargo-handling partners. A Lufthansa Cargo Boeing 777 freighter departed Frankfurt (FRA) today at 08:01 CET with flight number LH8332. The destination is Fraport TAV Airport Antalya (AYT), where the aircraft is expected to arrive around 13:30 local time. The freighter took off fully loaded with relief supplies, mainly winter clothing, blankets, food, and hygiene items, which are most urgently needed on the ground. Three U.S. Navy tactical aircraft squadrons will conduct an integrated flyover after the National Anthem during Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Feb. 12. The flyover formation will include two F/A-18F Super Hornets from the “Flying Eagles” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 122, an F-35C Lightning II from the “Argonauts” of VFA-147, and an EA-18G Growler from the “Vikings” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129. SAS is expanding its customer offering to New York and is starting direct routes to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York from Copenhagen; the inaugural flight took place on February 9th.
