American Airlines Cargo is taking part in a global effort to transport life-saving medical and sanitation supplies to Haiti as the nation struggles to control a deadly cholera outbreak. American Airlines Group, Inc. announced today that Chief Customer Officer Alison Taylor will retire from the airline. Hawaiian Airlines today announced it had become the newest industry partner of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) SkillBridge program, which has successfully transitioned more than 380 servicemen and women into civilian careers since its inception in 2019. “Close to 70 transitioning service members around the country who started the program on Jan. 9 will graduate on March 10,” said Angela C. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers stopped 39 handguns at New York City area airport checkpoints in 2022, an increase from the 26 guns caught in 2021. TSA officers discovered each of the firearms during the routine screening of carry-on property at airport security checkpoints. The biggest jump in the number of firearms was seen at LaGuardia Airport, where TSA officers detected 11 handguns in 2022, up from four caught in 2021. United Airlines announced the largest widebody order by a U.S. carrier in commercial aviation history: 100 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with options to purchase 100 more. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced the operational opening of the $2.7 billion new Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport, representing the largest single investment in New Jersey in the agency’s history. The new Terminal A, which replaces an outmoded terminal that opened in 1973, features state-of-the-art passenger amenities, local artwork, digital technology, and dining and retail options provided by nearly 60 regional, national and global brands, including six retailers from Newark, Elizabeth, and Jersey City.
